I was indeed impressed by your performance, which I found moving and very thoughtful, with a fresh perspective on my father that contained much truth. You did get something of my father that was very real, and it meant a lot to me.
I think you are helping to bring a kind of realism to the public image of my father, precisely because you don’t do the portrayal of him as others have done. It is different, and it is deeper. It makes people think. This is very difficult, and you do it very well. One of the reasons, ironically, is that you do not try to “reproduce” my father. Instead, you try to understand him, and then to represent him. It’s a gift, and it means a lot to me. Thank you!
